Thanks for the reply, Mongol and lazerbeam.
I can add GMAW-Globular mode for higher passes within the same wps. I don't think a new wps is needed for that. Since with gtaw, this will be pretty slow for a thickness of 1/2".

The WPS does mention GTAW for all passes for 1/2" thick plate with 3/32" filler rod. It also specifies same amperage, volt and speed range for all passes which I like to question since I guess these values should be different from those used for the root pass. Also, if I add GMAW for highe...

Hi, I have an old wps which I am trying to correct as per D1.1 It's for TIG welding of 1/2" inch thick plates with V-butt joint in flat position. It states 6 passes with 3 layers(1-root, 2&3-2nd layer and 4,5,&6-3rd layer). It specifies following parameters for all passes with 3/32"...
