Thanks but it was not that bad. Total time to mark, drill and bevel one plate was less than 4 hours. So the slats could be finished in four 8 hour days if someone were to work on them full time.

Yes. I tried making the pin come out by applying more pressure but no matter how much I screwed it down it stayed put.

I made some clamps today. Really easy, just saw off one end and weld a pin I made on my lathe. Try some 3/32 6013 and see if it will run them. That is the easiest rod for a machine to run that you can find.

Why would it not pass a bend test? As long as you do not trap any slag by weaving too wide you will not have any failures in a bend test.
