Well it was either that or fork out a few thousand euros for a table that was almost how I wanted it.

Re: New welding table. I think I bit more than I can chew...

Thanks but it was not that bad. Total time to mark, drill and bevel one plate was less than 4 hours. So the slats could be finished in four 8 hour days if someone were to work on them full time.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Once you commit to it it is not that hard and the result makes it all worthwhile.

Yes. I tried making the pin come out by applying more pressure but no matter how much I screwed it down it stayed put.

Re: New welding table. I think I bit more than I can chew...

I made some clamps today. Really easy, just saw off one end and weld a pin I made on my lathe. The pin is made from CK45 (because this is what I had available) so I used some ER312 to weld it just in case. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8678/16670793672_f68d850571_c.jpg Welding table by Taz00 , on F...

Re: What is my machine capable of?

Sorry mate but this thing is practically useless.
Try some 3/32 6013 and see if it will run them. That is the easiest rod for a machine to run that you can find.
If it does not run that properly, paint it blue and toss it in the sea.

Re: Miller new style tig glove review...

I have just worn out my first set of Miller Tig gloves so ordered 2 more pairs. They are great gloves but I have two complaints: a. They are expensive b. Sizing varies. The first pair fit me great. One of the new ones feels too big and the other is more or less ok but not as good as the first one. I...

Re: Weaving a 3g on 3/4" all the way out. (Pics)

Why would it not pass a bend test? As long as you do not trap any slag by weaving too wide you will not have any failures in a bend test.
I do not believe anyone said it cannot be done more that it should not be done.

Re: 3G Flux Core, 1" plate test

Most codes allow for variations in the electrical parameters provided you stay within the qualified heat input. So if you could weave that wide and still move fast enough to stay within the qualified heat input you should be ok. However considering we are talking about SMAW and the fact that most el...

Re: 3G Flux Core, 1" plate test

However, technically you can weave as wide as you want to as long as you can prove it will pass. There is technically nothing we can say against a wide weave if you pass your bend tests repeatedly. That is not accurate. Bend tests only give information on discontinuities on the weld and ductility. ...

Re: New welding table. I think I bit more than I can chew...

Thank you. You are making me blush  , however compared to the builds of some other folk in here I consider mine simply basic. Having/acquiring the tools to do the job has made the difference between success and failure. If someone was able to order the slats at a low price then the build would...

Re: newbie with lots of torch questions

Foot pedals are not so popular in Europe and Australia. The foot pedal works as a torch switch to initiate the arc and then depending on how much you depress it you can adjust the current. Full pedal = maximum current Depending on your machine you can adjust the minimum and maximum current range the...
