Re: New TIG Welding, new welder, new gas bottle, bad welds
When I set my Everlast up, I had the same issue. Turned out the hose clamps it came with were worse than sub-par. I made sure to change them out and the problem went away. Could be suckin wind.

I bought a 250ex and the regulator fluttered like a butterfly when I hit the pedal, and the factory clamps on the lines sucked at best; they leaked and lost alot of Argon. Changed to a good regulator from Jody and put hose clamps on ending the leaks and whaddaya know, problem solved. I know it's a d...

Bought plans for an ultralight 20 years ago, built the engine(half VW) and now have all the parts to build the rest. Welding skills are now at the level that I feel good about building the fusealge. We'll see if I can get the garage clean enough to get it built.

Just when I thought I was clever, I had a geyser with convection, radiator too constrictive. Pump now installed and just the extra hot water added to the antifreeze, heat came through the radiator. Gonna be 28F here tonight, so done just in time. Pump is a Duda and made for boiler sys. Got about 400...

It's not really touching much at the bottom and is wired at the legs. I had Kaowool from another project that failed , but kept it around; found a good use for it. Window screen is around the wool and wired. It's a bit of a WIP with LAR engineering tossed in. Thinking of pumping the juice through an...

Re: Garage heater
More than ever I need to save space, and it's a one and half car garage. The house sits on top of the foundation, above ground. The stove pipe/chimney would need to go up 20'+. Putting the stove outside avoids all the BS and insurance issues. Couple hundred bucks in copper and an excuse to weld.

Re: Garage heater
It's not going in. I'll wrap copper tube around it and a radiator in the garage with a fan behind it. Insulated outside of course and glycol in the system.

Nothing fancy, but after I wrap copper around it and build the radiator box, it should take the edge off this winter.

Re: Another Syncrowave Unstable AC Arc Question
After re-reading the OP, are you sure that you're not expecting the arc and beads to behave the same as steel? they are different; as to the edge melting back, a heat sink would be of great value. The other thing that helps me focus when welding alu. is to where ear plugs. Alu. welding is noisy!! Yo...

Re: Another Syncrowave Unstable AC Arc Question
Turn the balance to 8 and watch the trouble go away, or is that where you've got it? 3, or balanced is for DC as you know. I could be wrong on the setting, but at this point there seems little left to be wrong, and, as was stated above the electrode could be splintered.

If it's a used machine, it might be the points for the high freq. start need cleaning and re-gapping.
Same thing happens with my Syncro 250 I've welded with with for years.
Quick search shows .15 for your machine.

Re: At the breaker box
Thanks tweake. The machine did not come with the plug end, but does suggest a 50 amp end. My old house has a 100 amp service and need to put in the new breaker/circuit for the machine. I have the patience to make it right.

At the breaker box
To start off I will not burn the house down, that being said, I know that house wire is made of copper  My question is what is "inrush amps " the manual says 40a inrush and would that be the size breaker I need or, Everlast 250ex that suggests a 50 amp plug, do I need a 50 amp breake...
