Re: new welding table from scrap yard...

Thanks, yeah it is nice but I think the metal may be just a hair to thin on top... I have some 3/8" and my ForceCut 80i just shipped today from Cali... so next week I will make a nice top. Do you all think 3/8" is thick enough? I will look down at the scrap yard tomorrow for a semi brake d...

Hey carl...If you hada chick like that standing ANYWHERE close while you were welding....Your "SLAG" would most surely look like John's in his "7024 200 amp" post...And i doubt seriously it would have anything to do with Steve & Johathans reply about cialis OR viagra....lmao...

Re: Slag...

Thanks everyone. First answer is I am using 6013 "Lincoln rods" but they are almost gone (2 left out of 10lb). I have watched almost all of Chucke20009s' videos.. he is the one who after the video series "torture testing a Chinese machine" (Longjevity 42i) I purchased a ForceCut ...

Slag...

Hey everyone, as you know I am a newb and each day I practice weld I have thoughts and ideas. Today I was practicing and lowered my amperage to find that my slag now pretty much falls off on its own. My question is: Can we judge our weld by the slag? Another words, if the slag just about falls off b...

new welding table from scrap yard...

I'm a newbie at welding period. I went last week and purchased my first ever stick (Hobart 235 AC/DC LX) and I am having a blast. Got to thinking I NEED a table, something solid. So off to the local scrap yard and low and behold they had just the right thing, it had been there for some time the guy ...

Re: What should a weld bead look like?

Thanks for the replies and compliments... lol. I would love to buy one of those gauges... ebay? is it just called a "fillet gauge"? I will look it up, have not seen anything like that at Tractor supply or Rural King in my area...

Thanks, very cool pics too!

What should a weld bead look like?

As a newbie, I have been creating bead pads for a couple of days and I have also "fab'd" 2 things... they look like crap but I think they will hold up nicely. So, my primary question is: Is the weld/bead supposed to be arched, flat, have a valley or what? Here are some of my latest welds a...

Well, I figured as much. I am close to several of my Motorcycle friends and when we post odd stuff it doesn't always "look" appropriate but it is all in fun!

Glad I could stir the pot this morning! LOL

Now I am going to post a question...

Re: 5/32 7024 at 200amps on 1/4 inch plate.

I joined this forum to learn and then I read a couple of comments and I get the feeling that not everyone is "supportive" of others accomplishments. Personally, the weld looks "good" to me but as a newbie with ZERO welding experience it may be weak, not straight and little wide a...

Re: Welding on A/C current

I know I am a newbie here but I found these apps from Miller for the Iphone etc.. and it is great when you want to look up amperages needed. I love it but just like a couple of others have said it should be on the box... But what happens when you toss the box and put them in a holder??? Anyway, here...

Newbie from S. Ohio...

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and new to welding in general. I had a mig welder years ago and traded it off in a tractor trade... should not have done that as it was a very nice little mig. Now I currently have a piece of crap 80 Campbell Hausfeld but it has helped me when I needed it. I ju...
