Xylene is not your best choice strictly from your health standpoint. The gurus around me suggest a shot of WD-40 - that should kill the clogs, if they start to return hit it again. WD-40 may not work as well but it won't kill you either.

My machine allows me to select the percentage of starting voltage. I can not find any information on how to best use this feature. I weld mostly small stuff around 1/8 or less most of the time. Anyone with experience in this, sharing that info would be really appreciated. Suggestions are what I seek.

Was there any kind flux? Flux will burn and contaminate if it gets too hot. I think you can do a braze joint too hot and burn out some of the different elements that make up the brazing filler also. Is there really an issue leaving the gas up on the TIG unit? All the stuff I weld is really tiny - Seems like I waste more gas than I use purging out the gas. Nobody goes into my shop so there's no chance for somebody to fool with anything.
