Re: Having some problems with destructive testing

One little tip, in the booth, I'll wrap the lead around my arm, that way all the weight isn't pulling on my wrist.
Now I know it's not acceptable everywhere, just what I do.

Re: Miller Digital Elite vs Miller Platinum series

I'll have to tell people about that tape trick.
And yeah, a lot of people complain that it smacks them in the chest. Lol
Obviously I never wore it though. Carried it with me for a few days incase my ad broke, then decided I needed the real estate in my box.

Nice little jig.
I would add connecting ground straps between them. Maybe overkill, but never hurts.

Re: Stainless for outdoor brazier?

Stainless would look cool, but once you've got a fire going, isn't the metal going to have "HAZ's" all over?
Just curious, are you hand cutting the matal?

Personally, I would do vertical up, or just flat/horizontal. As those are "easier" so to speak.

Re: Rusted out floorboards

What machine are you using?
Does it have a arc control setting?

Sounds like one or two things. 1: running way too cold. 2: settings on your machine.

Re: Problem with auto darkeing helmet, it's too dark.

Replacement electronics are probably near the price of a whole new helmet, since that's really the heart of it so to speak.

Re: Helmet advise

I've seen some that go lower, gonna get one eventually. Just look some up online, they'll say the range. I've been told by multiple instructors, that as long as there's a lense of some sort, you won't get UV damage to your eyes. You can have too bright of light come through and mess with you, but no...

Shipping shouldn't be that much.
I just noticed on the add, he has the "best offer" setting on there. I wonder if someone made a offer of $10 or so + Shipping, if he'd take it?

Now say someone wanted to keep one in good condition, could it be sprayed with a clear coat?
(Obviously no intention to use it lol)

Not only disconnect battery (side note: negative should be first off, last back on)
But also ground to the piece you're working on.

Re: Welder Burn on the chest?

I bought the Tillman 567's (velcro version) earlier. I don't know if mine had been on the shelf too long or what, but when I removed the paper backing to stick the strip on, all the glue came with it. Bout to fix that right meow. Mines going on the top, I haven't had much trouble up front. But when ...

Old family friend mechanic was in the army or navy (can't remember) he said there was a truck (think it was a deuce) that had a leaking tank, he said he filled it up, put the bubble gum over the hole that he was chewing, then either welded it or brazed it (can't remember which also) Sent from my SM-...

That's good to hear.
I started there earlier this year, but in my home state of Oklahoma.
Currently midway through phase 4.
We don't actually do every item on the displays. Instructor said something about it not being important. Lol
