Re: Considering welding as a career. Need advice!

I'm turning 22 this year. Welded in highschool, then a little here and there in between. (Nothing longer than 30 minutes at a time, and not often. Well actually had to cap a well head once, that was a learning experience as I had never done vertical before.) Anyways. Lol I had always liked welding. ...

Re: vertical 7018

In school for the vertical t, we went straight up. No weave or anything. I forget what size 7018 we were running. Not the smallest and not the biggest. Was running about 118 amps. Get comfortable. At the top we just flipped it to avoid tits. Gravity is such a great thing. Lol Sent from my SM-G900R4 ...

Re: motor mounts

Lesson of the day: the older mechanical 7.3's were not the "powerstroke." Most refer to them as the idi. Mains reasons for powerstroke over idi: power, reliability, parts availability, easier diagnostics, etc. Flyinfairlane, what are you using on those mounts for the inserts? Sent from my ...

Brian, those boxes look great.
I'd be interested in how they sound vs a wooden box. (I know the reasons they wanted metal, just curious)
Were those speakers/head unit just for mockup, or the actual?

Re: Slag...

Well the first machine just never seemed right to me. A lot of spatter, seemed like it wanted to stick a lot, and when striking it would either stick real quick or almost like the machine would go off. Even one of the instructors used it for a demo and basically said it was a pos. Lol Sent from my S...

Re: Slag...

It's because he's using a big weave. In high school and almost all welding videos, everyone uses a weave. But at school now, they don't want to see any weave. I'm getting better on my overhead. Have to test out tonight. My normal machine was messing up, so I tried another, and it was messing up also...

I has never heard of such a thing, until I saw it, then did it myself.
I think this was 7024.
