Re: Weaving vs stringer and tips for a 3G test
An old wise welder once told me "when taking a welding test take every advantage they will allow you. Use the smallest rods allowed for control even if its on 1" plate. Grind smooth between passes even if you don't think it needs it. Always use stringers. Take your time and do it right. Th...

Today I converted a Delta 14" band saw for cutting metal. stock the blade runs at about 2900 sfpm now i have it running at about 210 sfpm. i added a 30:1 gear reduction box on the motor and played with the pulley sizes on the belt to reduce the speed. i just ordered blades for it today and i ne...

i had lights like those on my mill and was using some water based coolant and the cutter splashed some coolant on the glass and it pretty much exploded from the rapid cooling. so be careful if you use a heavy amount of coolant near them.

weld ground.PNG 8 ga is way to small for welding. What they are probably taking about in the manual is there is a small stud that is on the front of the machine that needs to be grounded to your truck, trailer, a stake in the ground etc. so if there is a short in the machine the electricity has som...

Alternate filler for Titanium
I do a lot of repair work but have never done any titanium before. I've been welding for 20 years, professionally for 12 and I've only had two people ask me to do some titanium. That being said a coworker has a titanium claw hammer that broke a claw off and it needs to be repaired. The smallest quan...

Re: 6010 Electrodes
On the topic of OCV, I have a dynasty 350 which has two settings for OCV, low @ 12v and normal @ 70v. I always leave it on the low setting and have no problem lighting up, I generally only run 6010's and 7018's. Has anyone run into a rod that won't light up on lower OCV? I guess my real question is ...

Ive got a Lincoln mobiflex 200 its kind of expensive but it is worth every penny, especially in the middle of winter welding flux core. Handles all the smoke and you don't have to worry about exhausting all your warm air out the building.

309 vs 309L vs 309LSi
Jody just did a great video on 309 filler. My question is this they make three different kinds of 309 filler when would I use one vs another? or is it more a personal preference on how the metal flows? I have a chart for what filler to use based on welding stainless to another grade of stainless is ...

Re: weld snapped on forged steering drop link?
I'd say you went wrong with the filler. Ive tig welded steering links on spotters for semi trailers with no problems. I would grind all the 316 filler out, preheat to at least 200f and weld with an Ni rod and peen after each bead. I peen with a needle scaler and just leave it on the weld for 10 or 1...
