Re: welding galvanized with innershield
The Lincoln website says it's an all position general fabrication wire, and mentions sheet metal as a possible application. What are they taking exception to, the downhill? The galvanized?

Welcome, Vileng. I googled but didn't find any welding company names similar to "Quality Control". With a name like "CUT 50" is your machine a plasma cutter or a welder?

I saw the "F" designation on the torch name and looked it up... and see there are "F", "V", and "FV" flavors. I'm guessing "F" is for flex head, but what are V and FV?

Assuming it's operational and including the cylinder it sounds like a good deal! When you visit keep an eye out for torches, regulator, cables, tungsten, filler, etc.

Re: Where to get a welding clamp/vice
If you're thinking of building a positioner, take a look at this project: http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?48154-welding-clamps It can really expand your thinking when you realize it's all common parts joined to create an uncommon result. The holes for the ball clamps would be a bit tricky for s...

This is a link to claz.org, which can search Craig's List nationally if you leave the location out of the search parameter. This shows what owners want for the machine, not what they get for the machine. You can also search ebay for closed auctions and see what the sale price was. http://claz.org/cl...

Re: Airco 251 Heliwelder
I've read that Airco welders are re-labeled Miller or Esab machines (just as Kenmore washers are made by other manufacturers for Sears and re-labeled), so the quality is there. Are you looking at one, considering a purchase? I can't speak to value, but those transformer machines are very durable. Ab...

but every once in a while when the geometry of a part I am working with is a bit of a pickle...The arc keeps wandering away from the bit I want to form the bead, the way I hold the torch or the settings seem to make no difference. Is it possible the odd geometry of the workpiece is causing your arc...

Re: Where to get a welding clamp/vice
+1 to Mick's response: you can find all the bits at a hardware store, plus the looking and finding will be part of the fun. The other aspect of building your own is designing to your own specs. In the original photo the hinge mechanism (that you subsequently drew up) *looks* like it's an inch thick,...

Was the DWI welder getting $25 per hour on the payroll? If yes then the employer was likely providing a machine, consumables, and argon, not to mention a workspace, lights, fixtures, etc.

Welcome, Tooms! If it's helpful, this calculator can narrow down the accessories (tungsten and cup sizes) and filler rod size for different weld scenarios.

Re: Sears Craftstman 230 v arc welder 230 amp
The good thing about transformer welders is that they are so simple, they're usually bullet proof. As long as the fan is working, and animals haven't destroyed the internal wiring it should be good to go. I haven't priced them but I took a quick look on ebay's closed auctions (to find the deal's clo...

If you contact Everlast about damaged or missing parts they'll get the parts to you. I received an Everlast box and the foot pedal had come apart- can't figure out how a box inside a box gets FUBARred when the outside box is OK. I was able to put the pedal back together, no harm no foul, but on anot...
