Re: Having some problems with destructive testing

Well I'd been used to mostly welding black steel with str8 CO2 and it really lays a nice flat weld/When learning about using a different gas...My textbook shows that basically C25 will be flat on the edges...An it does look flat but when you look from the side the middle has a little convex crown ju...

Re: A quick question about a rod at school

AK That totally made sense...An you too Dave!!! That's awesome...I've never used a Lincoln before a couple days ago. I guess I've been sticking to mostly miller machines cuz I've had more experience with them, and own one...so I understand their controls. I asked my teacher how does the Dig work on ...

Re: What to buy?

One things for sure...if you like fixing stuff...you'll probably like welding. It's pull out your hair frustrating to some people, but after buying a couple welding machines...you can't really spend too much...in my own opinion. You do get what u pay for, and after you buy one you might wish u got s...

Re: Miller Digital Elite vs Miller Platinum series

I use the tillman I think (24c?) they are drivers gloves with a double stitch palm and full Kevlar stitch....for like $13 at the lws. I honestly only destroyed maybe 12 pairs in 1 1/2years. They are practically indestructible...an good for steel work, grinding, cutting, tig, mig, stick, and anything...

I personally wouldn't repair it myself. I mean that's A LOT of pressure even an acetylene tank makes a big boom. I get that if your decided your gonna do it then good luck. But if it's for a company I'd be fearful! Cuz regulator repair is only supposed to be done by qualified people. If something di...

Re: Miller Digital Elite vs Miller Platinum series

I mean really does anyone ever go home clean? I just don't see it...I mean who doesn't go home with grinding dust in/behind their ears, dirt and grime all over (even from just touching steel), and more than likely some burns as well as being covered in sweat. I just don't see how any welder could go...

A quick question about a rod at school

At school we have this rod and it's just 7018 H4R but it's like orange numbers an I think it's Hobart. Personally I use Lincoln rods, and even have had good luck with the lws brand. An when I run mine they look great no undercut real tight ripple and the slag peals off like a banana peel...I just ha...

Well it's definitely fused!! The one I did it took a while. I grinded out the center careful not to go to deep, and then bent em till they snapped off. It took forever

I've not owned or used eastwood plasma cutters but I've used a couple welders from them that my buddies had bought. One of my buddies got one for Christmas from his wife an her family, and neither of them had luck with them at all. One guy went to use his welder an when he flipped the switched it sm...

Re: Weave Vs. Stringer

Yeah AK that's exactly what it is....1/4" spacing and a backing plate....I feel pretty confident about it but I personally think it's much harder with stringers just cuz it's real easy to squeeze your rod out of the other side. It'll definitely be worth practicing I suppose. I'm really trying t...

I've never seen a dryer run on 115v in my life! An really I think it draws more power th...
