Re: Hello from SC

Welcome to the forums. This is definitely the right place for friendly folks and plentiful welding knowledge. The welding learned on farms is not taught in schools. Rusty, dirty metal and bad weather require a special kind of skill. You may be able to teach some of us a thing or two :D Glad you join...

Re: What's up from Nebraska

Welcome. Speaking of manifolds, about 25 years ago I was helping a friend put a big V8 in a tiny little British convertible and none of the commercially available headers would fit. I was new to TIG but thought I could do it so we made a set from stainless tubing. I didn't know what polarity to use ...

Re: T-Rex

A few nights ago, I was contacted by a woman who had seen the pics of Ol' Rex and wanted to buy him. I explained that it had taken me over 200 hours to make and was not for sale. She then told me about her 9 year old autistic daughter. She says she almost never displays any emotion whatsoever but ha...

These are hilarious. And at times very accurate

I have one more:

CREEPER: a tiny bed on wheels. Most often used for napping under vehicles. Particularly after lunch on taco Tuesdays.

Re: Weird Jobs

I once welded the inside of a cracked steering clutch housing on an old D9 Cat. I had to put a tow strap around my ankles and hang upside down from my service crane to get at it. Air arced and welded in the crack with 8018. The old timers at my work always recommended 8018 over 7018 for repairs on c...

Overhead shop hoist

Greetings all. This is not so much a welding as a general shop question. I'm wanting to put an overhead trolley crane in my shop but don't want to spend a fortune. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need a unit with powered xy trolley since I'm in a wheelchair and it would be hard to drag a man...

Cool sculptures! Anybody can splash a bit of paint on canvas and call it art, but there's real talent on display here.

T-Rex

I don't know if this is suitable for a welding forum; it's all done with silver bearing solder. I made this fellow a couple years ago. I'm planning a larger one made from rebar.
