Lmao@graboids. One of my all time favorite movies. I don't quite have Burt Gummer's rec room but I think the 45-70 would at least slow one down

Re: Lincoln powermig 210mp first hand user review.

BTW, in case anyone cares, I got to use these two fancy AD helmets extensively in the last few months. Lincoln Viking 3350, and Miller Digital elite. I used them for mig (hard wire), flux core (duelshield), stick (6010/7018), and Tig. Nothing to write home about. I wouldn't buy one, or reccomend. J...

Re: Welding boots recommendations wanted

I'm lucky. I can get in my rhino and in less than ten minutes be way out in the hills away from town where there's an old gravel pit with nice high berms on three sides. I love living out in the sticks.

I guess it's headed way off track, so I might as well fully hijack my own thread.

Hey, exnailpounder, I've noticed you have more than a passing interest in guns. Do you belong to any forums on the subject? I have a fondness for them and a respectable collection myself and think it might be fun to chat about them. A few are definitely conversation pieces :)

Re: Welding boots recommendations wanted

I was wearing sneakers but my new belt sander bombarded them with a relentless shower of sparks and now all the stitching is falling apart

I am mainly interested to learn of what boots not to buy as I too loathe cheap imported crap which is increasingly hard to avoid.

Welding boots recommendations wanted

Greeting y'all. I am looking for some good boots I can wear to protect my feet. Although I am in a wheelchair and don't use my feet, I prefer not to have them all burnt  I need a type that unlace far enough for me to slip my feet in and ensure that my toes aren't curled under. Also some that wo...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)

In my former life as a heavy equipment field mechanic I often had broken bolts in caterpillar undercarriages and the like. I usually used 3/32 LH90 to remove them. If they were broken much below flush, I would put a small piece of tubing in the hole and weld inside that. On larger and particularly s...

Re: Belt Sander of Awesomeness

Yes he turned all the parts himself and I cut and welded all the structural parts. The only drawings are a couple sketches on a notepad. The only things we purchased were the 1 hp motors, the belts of course, and the bearings. And misc hardware. Very pleased with the results. I can hog material off ...

Belt Sander of Awesomeness

My machinist buddy, Cag, and I both wanted belt sanders for our shops but weren't willing to fork out $4000+ for commercial ones. So, of course, we built our own. This was a two and a half week build. Please check it out. Thanks https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10153829581174951.1073741835....
