Re: Greetings from Norway
Post up some details in n your machine. Fronius and kemppi are really nice machines. They usually exceed Lincoln and Miller in advanced feature and price set for equivalent machine. I think the reason we don't see them in the USA is because they either don't want to or can't compete with the domesti...

Re: What TIG welder is good for a beginner
Among lots of great info that's been offered, this is a key thing right here. As a pretty rank amateur myself, learning to TIG weld seems to keep me somewhere between "extremely humbled" to "extremely frustrated" depending on the day. It just looks so darn effortless when you wa...

Re: Lincoln SW 200 Purchase Questions
You missed out on the 2 for one ½ deal on that and the 210mp Lincoln was doing. The SW 200 has a high starting amperage I think around 30 amps. This is because it does not have points, it's totally solid state HF. This can.be an.issue for really thin metal. Composed with Swype on mobile. not respons...

I've owned half a dozen Powcon machines, Great machines 100% made in USA there is a Powcon forum on welding web. Arcon welders was started by one of the inventors of the Powcon. They still have some parts and have all the owners mammals online. They are comparable to the old Thermal Arc machines tha...

Re: Looking for Alpha 200x info (HF point gap) Thanx southp
The AHP only uses the points to start the arc and if needed, maintain it at very low current, all other times, the solid state components take over. This is why it only has very small points, the Lincoln SW200 does not have points at all, this is why it has a high start amperage around 25/30 amps.

Set the arc gap between .021-.023. 5.5mm socket finger tight on the pints is all you need. Not uncommon to find the pints not perfectly squared up to each other from the factory. Thank you, is that an AHP spec or "general"? I've read/watched where some of the Miller machines have a sweet ...

Get yourself a chair or adjustable height stool so you don't have to bend over. Practice keeping your head out of the weld and smoke. Or get some telescopic tubing and make an adjustable height table.

I believe anything not in the standard Powcon box with handles was made by someone else. But all the ones that look like this are USA made and designed by Powcon. Those are 2 I used to own. Same machine except the tall one had dedicated 6010 ports. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160917/dd6c7dec3a...

Re: Squealing welder, what's up with that?
I did some googling on PowCon and apparently some of them where just rebranded kemppis! I know they sourced some feeders and other parts from others but the guy that basically invented the inverter welder started Powcon. 100% made in USA. He started Arcon after Miller bought Powcon. You can call an...

Those are 20CF bottles from HF by the looks of it. I would keep an eye on Craigslist get used bottles. Be sure the neckring is blank. Ok if is out of date, LWS will just swap you tanks and add about $20 for the retest. So does not matter if it passes or fails because you will never see that bottle a...

Ok, did not catch that part about the TBI. Makes sense now. If you are not already, you should contact your state vocational rehabilitation office. They will work with you and if they agree that you may be able to work even part time as a welder, they will help with paying for training and sometimes...
