Re: Cylinder Size
Usually, 125 cf is rental, 150cf is always customer owned. If you buy a bottle, NEVER let them swap you out with a printed neck ring bottle. ALWAYS demand a blank neck ring bottle... Even if it's an 80 or 60c.f. Etc.

One thing about these job requirements, If they want all these skills at low pay, they are not filling the positions. Thus if you have some of the skills, can weld but never read blueprints, apply anyway and tell them you are willing to learn. You might be surprised that they may hire you on the spot.

Re: Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.
If you are 31 as your profile says, why do you even have your mother involved. There are all kinds of reasons for shipping delays that are out of the control of Amazon and the seller once UPS has the order. In less than a day you went from expecting your delivery to cancelling the order through Amaz...

Re: What to buy....Help
Well I talked to Alex at Everlast and we struck up a deal. He is going to send me their new Powertig 350 EXT (a new and improved 325EXT), upgrade me to their new SSC type foot pedal and include the 220v water cooler (which plugs into the back of the welder), shipping included for $2900.00. This als...

Re: High Frequency - HF Start Bypass
Lightning and a Tesla coil or HF start are totally different. Llightning can be 120,000 amps and 100 million volts. That's why it will fry car electronics and anything else it hits. So my argument still stands regarding welding on a vehicle.

Nice post Lefty! That's the Wardenclyffe'esque lightning generator out in Russia! It's hard to find clips or pix of cars getting struck by the arc from that thing so thank you! For some entertainment, here's some other high frequency arc (Tesla Coils) shots involving proximity humans AND proximity ...

What will erase a memory card is a high static electricity charge. I have a cochlear implant and one of the warnings is that static electricity such as a kid going down a plastic slide can erase the programming of the device.

Re: High Frequency - HF Start Bypass
I can give you proof that it is nothing more than an Internet myth. every gas vehicle has spark plugs that create a high voltage current that passes through the ground and positive sides of the plug hundreds to thousands of time a second. Never damages any other electronics because the voltage never...

Well I found this thread after the OP contacted me and I replied to him. He jumped down my throat for asking why he would want to do this. He said that after trying to.help, it was the worst welder he had ever used. So if you are having issues with it, it may be the machine...

Re: Cost CO2 vs Argon CO2 mix
I'm not a master of welding, but from the physics side of it, an equal physical size bottle of CO2 will have far more gas in it than a CO2/Argon bottle, since CO2 is stored as a liquid. Doing a quick search turned up information from Air Liquide claiming a 1:845 expansion from liquid to gas. That s...

Re: Had a job come back today
I just did some research as to what metal this is. It is 42CrMo heat treated Chinese tool steel. The American equivalent is 4140. From what I read 4140 HT is not recommended for welding. This might be one you have to eat the cost. Maybe grind it all clean and refund the customer explaining that the...

Re: Need to know all about spray arc
Pulsed spray MIG will help with 3g and beyond. Generally you push it, it's really Frickin hot and massive UV. 5 minutes of spray MIG with a t-shirt will give you one hell of a farmer's tan. I learned that the hard way. How thick are the frames you are welding

Re: TIG without a helmet
I've got 20/20 due to lasik many years ago. I guess I'll try a magnifying lens in the helmet. At 40A, and some less than 1/8" steel, I got close to the corner and all of a sudden had molten metal balls rolling around. That arc was so small I could barely make out what I was doing and it was po...

Thanks for the reply. So from this information it looks like i may as well go with the mix. Reading on other sites people say mix is mich more expensive but that does not seem to be the case. I just talked to my boss who has a larger tank like I plan on getting and to fill it qas $18. Another quest...

Cheater lens in you welding good or some cheap 2 dollar reading glasses. I think Jody uses a very fancy HDR video camera to get the images he does. I've tried making video with a standard video camera and had little success

The issue is CO2 is sold by weight, mix is sold by CF. Prxair website lists a 20lb CO2 tank @ 175CF. 835psi full. Half the size of a 150 inert welding gas tank. Which is what my setup is

Surprised they didn't address the use of EP EN amplitude. I know some guys doing some pretty trick stuff using that feature. Zank is one of them... It's a good suggestion for use of higher Hz. I'll have to try that.
