Re: Upgrade or no?
The torch in the current model is very good. I would not buy a different.torch just for learning on. As a distributor for AHP and a long term reviewer, I have been involved in the ongoing torch improvements. This is actual about the 4th version of the AHP torch. As it has received multiple changes t...

Re: Want a "no problem" TIG, reading reviews, now I'm confus
The mig/tig units are DC only. Since you want to tig aluminum you need an AC/DC machine. Lincoln 200 has been out for a little while now and is in your price range - $1400 shipped. http://www.bakersgas.com/LINK5126-1.html?gclid=CMHt6ZntvM0CFYIBaQoda_EAHQ agree, or the AHP200X as a dealer for them a...

Re: Stainless Practice, Round Two
The lift TIG on some of the Everlast machines works more like a roll TIG. If you just try and touch the tungsten to the work it will stick. Try resting the cup at and angle on your work, roll your wrist /torch so the torch contacts the workpiece and lights up and immediately roll back and start weld...

Re: Miller Dynasty 210 DX
You can't take the HTP to any local service center. While is a good machine USAWELD is the only source for parts and services. Also compare the AC pulse. HtP maxed at 10pps I think. I believe the dynasty allows high speed AC pulse. You are paying for a nationwide dealer and repair network. Sent from...

Re: In the Market for a new modernTechnology Mig
What you want is much more the person doing the welding than the machine itself... I'm willing to bet that either of the machines you own in the hands of someone like ZTFab(on Welding Web) would produce perfect stacked dimes look. Stacked dimes is not the sign of a sound weld BTW. MIG is notorious f...

Re: Welding Contaminated Aluminum
Remember there's nothing wrong with doing a cleaning pass or two with the tig torch prior to actually welding the casting. It seems to really help on some of them. Wish I could find a torch to hold the piece of 1/4" tungsten I have. Would be perfect for high balance cleaning passes. Got it and...

There is a couple folks over on Welding Web forum that are wheelchair users, they have their home shops designed around access. Others have limited use of one arm, hand. So they made adaptations for that.

Re: TIG Welder:reading reviews, I'm more confused.Need feedb
Just the fact that you want to work with aluminum in "all thicknesses" says that you're dreaming. You need a serious machine capable 250A+ with a heavy duty cycle if you plan to weld even 1/4" aluminum constantly. Definitely need the OP to clarify what thickness he is planning to wel...

Couple of suggestions. V grove the Crack on both sides before welding. Drill a hole through the end of each Crack. Looks like maybe you did this. Hardtotellon my phone. Did you MIG weld it? TIG it. Get a big Tungsten and make a couple passes without filler and the cleaning turned up high. Low amps ...

Now learn to weld. Version one looks like a hack job on the welding. Version 2 looks cold without much penetration into the tube, but weld looks more consistent. Does your gas flow continue after you release the pedal BEYOND the specified time. Just watch the flowmeter. If it continues flowing indefinitely after releasing the pedal, then the contact switch inside pedal is bad or out of adjustment. I had one customer with a pedal that developed this problem. ...

I saw that hammer video recently too. That sounds like a visit to the local steel supplier, and ask for a drop, the cut-off end of that 24 foot stick. Another option there is an online steel supplier such as OnlineMetals.com, but I'm aware the shipping into Canada can be expensive- I wonder if ther...

AHP200x, It will give you high speed pulse capabilities for stainless and AC if you need it. If you want DC only, there are many options. Are you willing to buy used or do you want new. DC can be done on a machine that runs a few hundred bucks and goes up from there. I really like the older Thermal ...

It sure would be nice to see an old syncrowave thrown into the mix in the next video. Especially comparing aluminum welding on an old tech square wave machine to an inverter. It's the Weldor not the welder that makes the weld. I'll bet you won't be able to tell a difference if Jody is doing the wel...
