Re: Caution Tig Welding leads to collecting parts

Hello, I'm Paul and I'm a TIGaholic,
For Christmas I bought a 1200 buck Piranha 3tungsten grinder.
Last week I had am Amish craftsman make me a leather tig finger.
Yesterday I ordered titanium filler wire. Why? hell if I know...

Cup size in gas coverage for SS

I did a little experiment. All variables are the same, 50amps, 15CFH flow, 3 second weld, no up or down slope. Only change is cup size.

Re: Eastwood TIG 200

Thanks for the input guys. I was unaware of the cable not being a Superflex. As for the torch, a have a CK17F on my other unit and I don't notice any real difference. My biggest beef with the Eastwood is the arc cutoff in AC. When I try to taper off it cuts out way too soon. On DC it doesn't have th...

Desert Island

If you were stuck on a desert island (with 220v and piles of steel and aluminium along with filler rod and a huge underground argon resevoir) what is the one machine you would want to have with you?

compound angles

Hey welders I'm building an ornamental fire pit for a contest and having trouble getting all my compound angles lined up. Anyone have any shop tricks for this sort of thing? The frame is made from angle and the interior "mesh" will be cut from stamped ss. I'm new and kind of lost but we've...

Re: 4F is kicking my

Yeah, I was horribly uncomfortable. He had me welding with my arms cocked all weird and the rod coming 90 deg out the side of the stinger. Another student suggested I hang the whip up and have the rod come out the tip of the stinger. Night & day!

Re: Eastwood TIG 200 SMAW question

DC TIG @ 200A will do a lot more than sheet. I'll bet it will a one-pass 1/4" Butt joint. I'm confident it will do it up to 3/8 but trigger the duty cycle just on weld time, so it wouldn't technically be one pass. I've done a 3 pass 3/8 2G Vgroove with backing with a PT225 @ about 120A and hit ...

I use the LPT225 at school. You should be able to burn 6010's all day. I'd definitely have the machine checked.

Re: Eastwood TIG 200 SMAW question

Hey buddy, That Eastwood TIG 200 is an excellent GTAW unit, but It isn't made for SMAW. To do "stick" you need to swap the work lead and the "hot" lead. EASTWOOD does not manufacture a kit for this. But I invite you to check out their MIG/STick 200. You add that your collection a...

New torch

Fellow tiggers I'm looking for a new torch, I need one that has three separate hookups, 1 for power (dinse 25), one for argon, and a switch. Most of the torches I see come with the one piece cable. Could someone direct me to where I can find the type of torch I need. I'd like a 17 style. Thanks guys...
