Hashed over many times, sorry. Optrel Nova 2x4?
Looking for the nicest 2x4 auto filter. I had a Tradesman... did not like it. S240 is better. All the the "Colts" made lenses are about the same it seems. Specifically looking for a review on the Tigerhood FMP BM11 and/or the Optrel Nova. Is the Fibre Metal version the same thing as the No...

Re: Speedglas XXi
I think you are going to love it. Talent is a huge deal but quality equipment can only help. With the XXi I can see much more all around the weld. My stick welds immediately became straighter.

Re: Miller Digital Infinity Helmet
I got to use the hood today welding aluminum, the color is excellent with no noticeable false colors. I checked my old Digital Elite and it was made in 2003. I had been welding with it for so long that I didn't really notice the green tint as much as I did today , being able to compare it to the ne...

How do you like it? I still go to a passive lens for low amp stainless tig. The XXi is my go to hood for stick now.weldin mike 27 wrote:I guess we'll see in good timeIMG_20151225_064247_853.jpgSent from my ZTE T83 using Tapatalk

Re: Failed FCAW tests for lack of fusion
I think your 3G setting are ok. Did you do any destructive testing before the test? My first thought is you are not holding the sides long enough? The film will tell you what you need to know.

Speedglas XXi
The new Speedglas is a game changer. As good or better than passive gold lenses. If you get the chance to try a new XXi you will see the difference. Imagine a gold 10 passive lens clarity in a ADF. It's better than that.

I use surgical tubing to replace the oem rubber strap. Never needs re-adjusting and as the stock stuff it goes on with one hand like a ball cap.

Re: Helmet help?
For low amp Tig I love quality glass. Old Lincoln Supervisibilty lenses are easy to source. If you want high def get an old American Optics Weld Cool in shade 10. You may never want to weld with anything else after you try a WC glass lens.

Re: Phillips Safety Alloweld Lens
I use the Alloweld for stick welding and love them. They are heavy for a 2x4 lens, but that is the only downside besides cost. I suspect if/when you try one your weld puddle will look very similar to the arc shots on many videos. The didymium (sp?) glass cancels out the sodium flare... all that nast...

Re: ARC-ZONE Sharpie Hand Held Tungsten Grinder
I have the low end Tech-South tungsten grinder and it is now my most favorite tool. I plug it into the back of the Miller and it is right next to me. Super consistent point and it takes seconds. The replacement diamond wheels are like 10 dollars and I don't think they are easily worn out from the us...
