Re: Argon-T size
my LWS charges me $42.35 for a T size bottle of argon. also for a 75/25 argon/helium mix for $66.21. sounds like some of you are paying on the high side.

Re: Testing on Stainless and Carbon?
rmd on carbon starting point will be around 160 and pulse around 180. I would try same setting when switching to s/s. sorry I can't find my old cheater notes. when running the root can you go down or do they want you to go up?

Are you sure that the scrap is not anodized? I know you say you used a s/s wire wheel but try a flap disc.

Re: RMD
rmd works great for open root grove welds. allows you to sit in the center of the grove and get picture perfect root passes. Also works really well on thin ga sheets. 11ga - 22ga. Those pipeworx machines do a lot more then pipe and are very versatile. If your at a shop with one play around with it w...

.030" will work but .024" will make things go a little more easily. Fit up corner to corner and tack every two to three inches. Run your beads horizontal or run them down hill. I go horizontal and back step them.

Stay away from tip tig. My company has one that just sits in the corner. They asked me to figure it out and after a full day of trying I got no where. I even talked with tip tig and they where useless. What ck has to offer looks promising but I can't talk work into it after the failure of the tip ti...

Re: 8" sch 80
Talked with one of the engineers. So yes you can use c25 for rmd but not for pulse. C10 can do rmd and pulse. No need to change gas and get the full potential out of the machine. They have those options for other gases because every shop and procedure is different. C25 works great for normal mig but...

Re: 8" sch 80
C10 for rmd root and pulse. One gas is all you need. You can run rmd with c25 but then you can't run pulse. Gave myself a 1/6 land and 5/32 gap. After tacks its a 1/8 opening. Once you start using c10 for your pipe welding you'll stay away from c25. Much cleaner.

No problem welding pulse down. Do a test to adjust your setting and then run it.

Tig welding alloy 20 pipe. Is the use of backing gas suggested? I will be using er320lr for filler.
