Re: Am I crazy!? Starting out with TIG.

A half decent machine set up for aluminum(up to 6mm max) with all the bits needed to get started will start from about $3k(200amp machine/watercooler plus consumables)her...

Helped out a mate the other day, poor bugger was cruising along the hyway and ran over a centre punch of all things... Went through the tyre and punched a neat hole in his near new 20" alloy rim! The hole was about 6mm(1/4")in dia http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v725/ST170ish/20160318_12...

Re: DIY Helmet Fan???

I have three words for you: Miller Cool Band. They are available in two varieties; belt filter, and back of the head filter. They aren't cheap, but you'll like them. I use a hair dryer to warm the helmet first if the weather is cold. I have seen these before but unfortunately like I mentioned I hav...

Id be interested in seeing a direct comparison of the effects of polarity on tig welding, keeping the same set up and on differing materials. Maybe a run down on machine cables, like whats best whats worst for given application A do's and dont's on stick rods ie, what's the basic main use for common...

Yep I've fried my step counter thingo, forgot it was in my pocket and had the TIG anaconda near it while working sitting down... lucky it was a freebee from a health program at work ;)

I think if the sensitive equipment is isolated it should be fine after all there's plenty of welding vids about.
