Re: Tungsten Contamination
Ya im thinking based off other posts that your gas could be low as in tank near empty or....your flow is bad are you walking cup or no, are you getting all the mil scale off the metal or no, also even with all this i have never seen this happen that bad without obvious distortion on the arc.

No its not going to be like a bright light, but if you can see any light coming from anywhere other than the lens than its probably also messing your sight up.

Re: At home purging.
Ya i would run a y with two flow regs for your torch and one for the purge off the same tank. I would then to save money just use tape as the dam and use tape on the other side with a few holes in it....last i would have tape around the bevel minus where i was welding so 3/4 of the pipe taped removi...

Re: 2" schedule 10 stainless steel pipe
Well that will be based on how you tig weld, free hand or walking and even cup size. When i was doing a lot of food grade i would fuse root and use a 1/8 rod to make a one pass cap. I would use a number 10 or 12 cup at around 85 to 90 amps and haul.....saying this means nothing as each machine is di...

Re: X-ray welds = automatically great welder??
Anyone can pass a shop test especially an x-ray, why do i say this well because its a shop test and all variables are in your favor thats why the on the job welds are trash they are not shop welds. Like most of us here we have welded upside down with mirrors with our hood laying on a pipe and still ...

Re: 2" schedule 10 stainless steel pipe
For schedule 10 stainless its thin enough to butt it up fuse a root and single pass cap, there is no way to run root filler and cap its to thin. I have never seen a gap in one unless i had a bad fitter lol, but all in all do what the wps says
