Table for mama

Work is slow so I made this table for the wife. Just a bunch of scrap I got laying around. I like doing it though. I can't stand distressing the wood though.

Re: Forgot the magnet

I know we all consider ourselves craftsmen, but its also nice to know that other people get in a hurry or are forgetful. I have left my gas on overnight and drained the bottle and now I am TOO diligent about shutting it off and coming back to weld something and frying tungsten or making a mig weld j...

Forgot the magnet

Heres a good one. Set up a fillet weld and had to lay my positioning magnet down along the backside of the weld because of a space issue. When I lit up, you should have seen that arc wander. Worse than that was....I couldn, t figure it out. I tacked the piece and was sure I removed the positioner so...

Re: Syncrowave 200 and Pure Tungsten

I just tried the 2% lanthinated today for the first time .Im by no means an experienced welder and wow ! I feel like I have better arc control .Just my 2 cents . I was going to post the exact same thing. I was practicing on aluminun with lanthanated sharpened and blunted like a new crayon and I was...

Syncrowave 200 and Pure Tungsten

Hi everyone, FNG here with a question. I recently got a smoking deal on a Miller Syncrowave 200 to get back into TIG after a 15 year break. I primarily want to weld aluminum but I do need to do small projects on mild steel as well. Practice has been going well and I have been playing with the machin...

Re: Howdy from Cowboy Dan

Hey Cowboy Dan! I am new here too but I was wondering if you ever welded before and why you picked welding for a new career. No reason other than curiosity. Do you plan on pipelining or settling into a production job? When my normal job slows for the winter, doing welding and repairs almost pays the...

Re: FNG Saying Howdy

I also cater pig roasts for the local biker clubs so I built this pig smoker last spring....I usually do repair work on trailers and farm/yard equipment so I really don't take a lot of pics of that kind of stuff. I do the stuff no one else wants but I still like it, but every now and then I get to b...

Re: FNG Saying Howdy

I just back up the truck and light the far. I have some more stuff but mostly on my...

Re: FNG Saying Howdy

Len, Thanks for the welcome. My name is Jeff, my wife calls me "hey you"...but I will answer to my name hehehe. I just came in from the shop practicing and I have to say I am happy with my progress so far. I sort of forgot the fine nuances of TIG and was playing around with different tungs...

FNG Saying Howdy

Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone! I have been a lurker here for some time and finally decided to join. I am really impressed with the helpful attitudes that you guys present here. I am an old Tar from the construction world and I have seen my share of arrogance and I don't sense any of that wit...
