Re: Need help welding ductwork/thin sheetmetal
Having lots of luck with .023 wire on the mig 15 v and 200 wfs with 18 and 22 gauge as long as I am careful of the heat and move around a bit. Also tried 1/16 6013 DCEN and that worked well to. Thanks everyone!
Ductwork
I see sheet metal workers mig welding custom pieces on the jobsite with 16,18, 20, and 22 Ga. sheet metal. Watching these guys do outside corners I figured I try my hand at it and it is tougher than it looks to make a sound good looking bead. I think this would make a nice video we could all try to ...

Need help welding ductwork/thin sheetmetal
Working on a project that requires welding 18, 20, and 22 Ga. sheet metal ductwork. Had the mig set up with .030 wire, 18v, 150 wfs. It's ductwork so there are lots of outside corners. Any suggestions/tips? Not used to working with such thin materials. Any help would be much appreciated!

Cost of materials (including gas and consumables) X 1.50 + $50 X hours worked. = $$$$$

Re: Practice stand for all positions?
Great stand! I always have leftover pipe from work and was thinking about making a multi position stand myself. I had some ideas but after seeing Jody's and yours I got a couple more. Once again great job!

Re: Control on keyhole
I weld pipe for pipefitters and sometimes I find that sometimes the way the guy cut or fit the pipe I end up having to weld larger gaps in some spots that blow my keyhole right out. The section of pipe that maybe larger I just run stringers on both sides until the gap is more favorable then feather ...

Re: Miller multimatic 200
Thanks John! It seems like a good mig and arc machine for side jobs and "hard to reach" areas. The TIG features or the lack there is kind of a bummer!
