Re: Getting a mig welder.

Shame on Cyberweld for sending it out that way, If I'm getting a repack that's fine but it is usually discounted somewhat and they should have gone over it with a fine tooth comb before sending it out to you. I know how you feel, 4 days late and it arrives damaged! It will all work out in the end. A...

Re: Aluminum welding issue

Yes, CJ you are correct, Everlast are in reverse of my millers. 70% setting on your 325 would do it especially at higher amperage settings. Like the others mentioned, check your gas settings and your balance.

Re: Removing galvanizing if you have the time

Mpete if you end up using the Works, at least you can use the 30% Vinegar as a non selective weed and grass killer :) make sure you use gloves and eye protection any vinegar above 10% can burn the skin.

A friend of a friend used to work for NASA and said that Nasa specs out a lot of DCEN aluminum welds, he showed me some of the pictures that he had done with that process, they were amazing looking welds. He said thay used UHP Ultra High Purity Helium as his shielding gas. I tried it years ago and i...

Re: remove mill scale on welding table top?

Years ago I added a 1/2" top to my welding table and it had mill scale on it, I don't weld every day so I was more concerned with it rusting so I just left it on there, everytime I clean it a little bit more comes off. That was 10 or 15 years ago.

Re: Aluminum TIG Problems

Glad you got it figured out Ant, your second weld looks quite a bit better than the first. I remember one time I had made a repair on a magnesium two wheel cart and grabbed 4043 instead of magnesium rod. finished her all up and the first time I went to use the two wheeler the weld failed! I was shoc...

Re: AC Tunsten Quiver

Nick welcome to the forum It seems you have an inverter, pure tungsten is not recommended for the reasons you have seen yourself. Try using 2% lanthanated, and bump up the balance to 60-70% DCEN. Let us know what machine you have. What he said. :) Adjusting your Electrode negative to 60 to 70. I'm ...

Well Jake! If that's what you are enjoying the most I would stick with it, you obviously have a knack for it.
