Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

I got my Miller Titanium 1600 fixed shade a couple of weeks ago and I quite like it even tho I haven't used it yet. I'm still waiting on my welder to arrive. Ugh!

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Yeah, The welder and wire will be in my basement and it is always around 70 degrees down there and pretty dry most of the year since I have the heater on half the year. Artie, I was planning on waiting before buying those rollers. Ive heard from others as well who own the Everlast Powermig that they...

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Thats good info JW. Any special storage container I can buy for the wire? I bought a 10-pound roll and I know that will last me years.

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Well, I meant .035 :)

I know for sure the machine will run .035 but, like you said, I may have to buy those rollers separate. I will check when I get the machine to see if I have the smooth or the knurled ones. I know you can buy the knurled ones on their site. Thanks

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Everlast themselves told me. They even sell the .35 tip for for the gun. Thanks.

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Yes, I checked and you can use the .35 wire. There are 2 grooves in the rolls, a 6mm and an 8mm. To use the .35 wire, it needs to be place on the 8mm groove.

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Not sure how knowing what machine I will be using is going to help but, nonetheless, I will be using a Everlast 140 Power Mig with .35 E71T-11 wire.

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

I'm not trying to know the most "inane" details, as you put it. Since I'm new to this, everything to me is a detail and so I ask the questions that to those who do this everyday may seem like dumb or obvious questions (inane details). I can build you house from footing to the last galvaniz...

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

Well, that is what I was hoping for, just an estimate. I guess I'll just order the 10-pound roll since its a better buy.

Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

Ive seen those pics Welding Mike. I understand now that the shaded lens always flips up with the fronts lens cover in helmet with flip-up designs.

Werkspace, I was actually going to get an accustrike helmet but it only comes with a green #9 shaded lens. Cool helmet tho.

Re: Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

I was just looking for a general idea since I wont be doing too much welding to begin with. I will be more of a weekend welder and not every weekend at that. I wanted to know what size roll I should buy since I dont know if the flux wire has a shelf life I need to watch out for.

Linear feet for 1-pound flux wire

I was wondering how long in linear feet would a 1-pound roll of Flux-core wire cover. This is of course single pass.

Thx in advance.

Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

Welding Mike, Yeah, I get it now. I'm guessing every single helmet on the market is made this way? From the pictures I see online you would guess that some helmets have a bit of distance between the shaded lens and the clear front lens but, you guys are stating that this is not the case. Its hard fo...

Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

You made that video just for me? Man, that was really nice of you. Thank you. So, I was basically right; there is a clear lens in front of the shaded lens. My question was is there a clear lens that just flips up and down to protect the shaded lens because that is what it looks like on some helmets....

Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

I fail to see how I was trying to be funny. I asked a legitimate question since I am new at this. My confusion lay on design of the combination of the shaded lens and the clear lens whether flip front or not but, whatever.

Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

I appreciate all that info. I could have sworn tho I have seen helmets with a front lens cover and even Werkspace's red helmet looks like it has a clear lens over the shaded lens. So, are fixed shaded lens helmets only available with front fixed clear lenses and flip ones? Why do they sell front len...

Re: Yet another welding helmet question.

I couldn't find the jackson 100 or mp-10 with a flip front. I found a pipeliner with a flip front but, with only a small lens (2x4?) It was my understanding a larger lens would be better and a flip-front would help protect the actual shade from damage. That is why I was looking at the miller titaniu...

Thanks Len. I'll check that one out. I was looking at the miller MP-10 and titanium 1600. Any comments on those?

Yet another welding helmet question.

Hey all. I'm new to welding. I have been reading about it for years but, have finally decided to finally become a weekend welder since out of necessity. I will be doing exclusively flux-core welding indoors and outdoors. I will be using a 115v 140amps welder. I am set on a fixed shade helmet and was...
