Re: Progress from first week at ArcLabs

Rodney, looks like everything is coming rite along for you. Glad to see your still working hard to get what you want and learning the trade. I got a young guy working for me and I been trying to help him with his welding, unfortunately I had to start him off on mig because thats what we needed the m...

Re: CNC Plasma Table

Guys thanks for all the suggestions and the response. I will definitely check out the ones yall suggested and I have a hypertherm now and I love it. I was just making sure that I could go with another hypertherm and it would work good on the table. Again thanks for the response and suggestions. -Brad

CNC Plasma Table

So I have been researching and looking around on the internet at different plasma tables and I am having trouble on deciding which one is best. I have been looking at plasma cam and torch mate, I really like the fact that torch mate offers the gantry kit where I can build the table to save money. I ...

Re: Progress from first week at ArcLabs

Welcome Rod, and your plate doesn't look bad at all for beginner. It looks like your catching on and your beads look like there stacked together pretty tight. Stacking your beads tight together and tie in is very important while also watching your undercut. Looks like to me your heading in the right...

Re: Needing Your Help & Ideas

Welcome to the form, I also agree with Otto and one thing I find really funny is one of our local dealers have a brand new millermatic 252 on the show room floor and have absolutely nothing for it. Also what got me is this dealer is surrounded by coal mines, paper mills, and power plants and they do...

Re: What I welded today....

Thanks guys, and yea it was a blast building it. It had been a long time since I done that kinda work, it was a good change of pace. We built it in the shop and then hauled it over and set it. The only welding I did in the field was the anchor plates.

Re: Looking for help on deciding what welder to buy

I have a miller bobcat 250 and i would not trade it for anything. I like it as much now as i did the day I bought it. I have had it on strip mines, road jobs, and I still use it now for my business and I haven't had hardly any trouble out of it. Its been very dependable and performed every time I ca...

Re: Hello

Welcome to the forum, and Otto is right pipe line welding isn't a easy job. There's a lot to it and it takes a well trained and well experienced welder. Also six weeks really isn't enough time to learn the tricks of the trade. One option that a lot of guys do is get on as a welders helper and learn ...

Re: Who here does homemade tools?

Nathan, your not alone here I built a lot of the tools that I have now. I built my press a few years ago because I couldn't see paying the price they wanted for the size press I needed. I built mine 6' tall and the table is 2' by 4' and is built out of 6" I beam. I used a 50 ton air/hydraulic b...
