In a situation like this, if the item to be welded is small enough, would it make sense to wash it in soapy boiling water for a while (say an hour or so) to leach out as much of the oils as possible? I know that when I wash engine parts in solvents, they come out plenty clean for mechanical work, bu...

I'll try to get some pics.. It doesn't make any sense to me that I can make a good weld on almost anything then the next weld I lay down looks like a gray ball of snot. I'm starting to think it might be a gas leak in the torch if I hold it at a certain angle? I don't know I'll try to get you guys s...
