Re: Wanting some feedback on tig welders.
I am sure that you would be happy with any of the 3 you are considering. I have had a 255EXT for 3 years with 100s of hours on it an no problems so far.

Re: TIG Welder or Still a Loser?
Work on keeping your torch angle as close to perpendicular to the joint as possible and shorten your arc. The tungsten should almost touch when starting and until you start moving and adding filler and then stay as close as possible when moving the torch. If your not puddling within 3 or so seconds ...

Re: Everlast 255ext
On the new version 255EXT, the one pictured (has a gas purge button, spot timer and 4 fan cooling) when facing the machine, the positive electrode connection is on the right and the negative electrode is on the left. On the previous model 255EXT, these were switched. The reason they were changed was...

Re: Everlast 350EXT
Fit and finish on your cart is looking pretty tight, too! Nicely done. I went to the Everlast site to look up specs and don't even see the 350 listed. 3 phase? Thanks. Here is a photo of the data plate from the back of the welder. Single phase. You would have to ask them, It is a finished productio...

Everlast 350EXT
Finally got this welder together to weld with it. Not too much time on it yet, 5 - 6 hours, and nothing heavy, only 1/8" aluminum. So far, very smooth and quiet. Fit & finish quality is excellent, accessories are good (upgraded Everlast foot pedal and Rota-flex torch, Arc starts are crisp, ...

Re: Series on Tig Welding Aluminum
Jody, Thanks for continuing to make fun and educational welding videos. I especially appreciate you doing a series dedicated to Aluminum. I have lots of questions every time I weld aluminum but will just pick a few as the videos come out. Don't want to dump too much on you at once. :) One area I thi...

Re: New Welder: Everlast PowerTIG 350EXT
Difference from the 325EXT is 30 amps, a bit higher duty cycle, gas purge, spot timer and a little more $$. Otherwise based off the 325EXT architecture, I think. Not much out yet other than a blog earlier this year that I saw. Looking forward to giving it some work and seeing how it performs. If it ...

New Welder: Everlast PowerTIG 350EXT
Got my new welder and water cooler in from the good folks at Everlast and unpacked them then had to go off to work for two weeks. No problems with shipping. Everything arrived in excellent shape; switched it on and all seems to be in working order. Excited to get home and run it through some paces w...

Re: Aluminum Boat Transom Corrosion Repair
I know a guy at work that had similar issues and no luck welding bought a coating made for that type pf repair and did the entire boat. It wasn't cheap but has been in service over 2 years and not a single issue. https://www.flexsealsale.com/flxsl/12.0000/index.dtm?mid=6472948&otsrid=144726f0-c...

C. Livingston. That is a cool mailbox. I'm thinking it would win against everything but maybe an M1 Tank. Kym / Sedanman: Not sure I needed a structural bear but made sense when I built it. Good eye that you caught that design part. Was going to do the same with the back bear but it didn't look bala...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)
20161203_164000.jpg Rather proud of this. Bought a new to me lathe and the feed direction lever got broke so I Sil-brazed it back together and had to re-drill the hole for the return spring. Paper thin cast iron and mildly expensive to replace so I was puckered but I pulled it off. Silbr is harder ...

Re: The what I welded today (/whenever) thread (pics please)
Thanks for the comments on the chainsaw boxes, enjoyed them. Kym, the Giraffe comment had me rolling. I needed some serious practice on outside corners to build some gas tanks later this year and this seemed more fun than making modern art for the recycle. As well, don't want the chainsaw I ta...

Thanks for the comments. Hoping it will last a few years. Tried to put it back far enough to not get beat by the kids or the snow plows. I don't think that protecting your mailbox is a viable legal defense, even in Alaska. //Shipj0//

Wooden mailbox post was rotting out so decided to practice with my new Hypertherm 30air and make a new one. Posts were band saw cut and bears were plasma. Welded with a original version Miller 211, .030 ER70-S6 wire. Did not use Autoset but settings were per the chart. 1/8" steel, sprayed cold ...

Re: Going with Everlast PowerTig 210EXT, Any thoughts?
I have a 255EXT and enjoy welding with it quite alot. I am sure that the 210EXT will work fine too. If you can go larger, I recommend it because the machine can always be turned down but if your limited on amperage or duty cycle for what you want to weld it can be frustrating.

Re: Millermatic 211
If you get a spool gun for it get the Spoolmate 150 instead of the Spoolmate 100. Much better duty cycle and will handle 5356 wire.

Re: ESAB Rebel Vs Lincoln Power MIg 210MP
I have not used this welder but as you can see by my sign, I have several Everlast products and like them quite well. Quality and price are both good. Didn't realize they cam out with this welder, specs look pretty good, 60% duty cycle at 200 amps plus pulse MIG. I also found a review from ChuckE200...

Re: ESAB Rebel Vs Lincoln Power MIg 210MP
All that previous stuff said, for my $.02, I will give you the advise I give my friends. If I were purchasing a new first time welder today, I would purchase a Tweco 252i. It will do everything these other welders will do and at a much greater duty cycle for about the same price. At 200amp / 60% dut...

Re: ESAB Rebel Vs Lincoln Power MIg 210MP
From the specs I could not tell if the ESAB Rebel had a spool gun if you might do aluminum. The Lincoln spool gun looks very low WFS and duty cycle, like the Spoolmate 100 for the Miller 211. The Spoolmate 100 was only rated for a WFS that would support 4043 aluminum wire and then not very much at ...

Re: Looking for a respirator.
All depends on what you want to spend on your health. Local ventilation at the source is always your friend. There are plenty of respirator hazards in welding fumes, simple iron particulate if small enough to be respirable can irritate the lung tissue over time. Fortunately, the body has lots of def...
