Re: New to tig welding.

Oh, I just read the no outside thing. haha I have no choice. I can not weld in the shed thing I have. It is to small. There was no wind yesterday. But, it was cloudy. Also, I believe I had the machine set to 4t. This site makes it easy to learn stuff. I would say before, that I knew not a person who...

Re: New to tig welding.

Cool, well, it has a 5 year warranty. But, I had no luck when I first ordered from AHP. That is why I canceled and got it from Amazon. Not at all worth returning for the pedal. I found a place that had one for the 2015 and 2016 version for like, $175. I will just get that. They also have a tig torch...

Re: New to tig welding.

Ok, that is helpful stuff. It is odd. I sharpened all my things with a grinder I got from Harbor Freight. Nothing has even been on the grinder before. I could tell something was up. The arc never looks straight. It is like, all over the place. I know I should not have tired two pieces. But, they wer...

Re: New to tig welding.

As you can see, haha, no luck. It went well at first. Then, I went in and ate dinner and not a thing worked. I thought I had dust in my glasses and or helmet. I took them off, only to realize that it was almost dark out. When I went back out, I could not get a puddle at all. I was standing up. Then,...

Re: New to tig welding.

Well, haha now that I've gotten a Tig welder, I think classes would be good. I've no clue when they start. Even when it says they start in the site, it all depends on how many sign up. I'll get in that tomorrow.

Wow, that is a cool looking machine. I would love to get old welders and build them back to work. One day, if I ever have the space, I shall.

New to tig welding.

I tried to use my new AHP Alpha tig today and yesterday. No luck. But, I've never tig welded. So, I expected as much. So, this is what I am trying to use. 2# ER4043 Aluminum TIG Welding Rods 2-Lb 3/32" (2.4mm) x 36" TIG Welding Tungsten Electrodes 2% Lanthanated 3/32" x 7" (Blue,...

Re: AHP Alpha Tig with Bobcat 250.

I've never done any kind of electrical thing. So, I would really have not a clue. haha I could figure it out. I can buy a $70 thing from Roberts Oxygen. I had no luck tig welding today. haha I could not get the puddle started. Actually, it was odd. Really, nothing happened. BUT, first time I ever tr...

AHP Alpha Tig with Bobcat 250.

I got my AHP Alpha Tig today. Just seeing if it started. Haha. I tried to plug the thing into my Bobcat 250, using the plug that comes on the machine. It did not seem to fit. Didn't seem wide enough. Anyone try it? I mean, it would suck if I could not use the AHP at the highest amps. Maybe there is ...

Re: Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.

I was thinking about what was said on here. All day it has been churning through my mind. haha The only reason I even contacted the company is this. I got an email that a shipping label had been created. The delivery date was September second. So, four days after the delivery date, I looked at the s...

Re: Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.

haha Well, I like my mom to know she is still important and needed. My entire family is close like that. I did not wait a day. First, the thing was supposed to arrive on the second. I filed a claim on the 8th or 9th. It had to do with other things. Amazon can read everything sent between myself and ...

Re: Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.

I got a bench grinder thing today. It was like, $39.99. I sharpened these things with that. Seem to be much better than before. Haha BUT, as far as having fun, well, that is another story. The place I ordered the welder from, I’ve had nothing but problems. The welder was supposed to arrive today. Wh...

Re: Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.

When stick welding, I clean the metal off as well. Though, I did not do so for the table I am working on now. I like clean stuff. For the past week or so, I've been in a fog. haha I am part zombie now. I was planning on getting a 2 x 2 piece of aluminum, which is 1/8 thick. Then, cutting small squar...

Re: Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.

Thank you for the tip. Yes, after I saw the ends, I told my mom and grandfather, that I would have to get one of the things you said. Though I am just starting the tig thing, I mean, I would rather it be set up correctly. haha

Finally getting tig welder tomorrow.

So, my tig welder (AHP Alpha 200) was supposed to be delivered on the second. Things happened. Not sure what. BUT, it will be here tomorrow. I tried sharpening these things. I had to use two drills. From a video I watched, I knew that I was supposed to have the diamond wheel, going the direction tha...

Hmm I have two videos. But, I can not upload them here. So, the pictures will have to do. I took some from the video. I said I had clamped the legs down. When I thought about it, I realized I had not. So, when I go to do it again, you know, THAT will help. LOL I have to leave this thing outside. It ...

Re: NO luck.

Yes, a picture would be a good idea. haha I have to shower, go get some food and get my bottle of Argon. I did tack the thing on. But, still the sucker bent. I wish I could have put the top part on as well. As far as clamps go, I had two on the thing. That is all that would fit. They say, I believe ...

NO luck.

haha Man, I am making a welding table. It is like 36 inches long, by say, 25 wide. So, I have the top and bottom welded. All is good there. BUT, the freaking legs, which was 30 inches long are mothers. Well, they go in between the top and bottom. I was then going to get a piece of metal, cut a squar...

So, today was the day. To Roberts I went. Closed early. haha I have to wait until Tuesday. Oh well. The tig welder I ordered should have been here today. The place said UPS must have "lost it." They said not to contact UPS, they would do it and they sent another out. Thing is, the first or...

Re: I seem to have a lot of questions.

I mean, if there is a thick steel bar, in the ground and a car hits it, going 30 or 40 miles an hour, would the bar even stand a chance? People have trees and shit, right on their property line. I just, think it is funny that there is so much time wasted on mailbox laws. haha What ever. I will make ...

That was the plan. haha But, I kind of like learning stuff on my own. You know? Sites like this make that easy. People know about this and that and they can answer any questions I have. But, I guess it does make sense to take the class.

Re: I seem to have a lot of questions.

You know, I never knew. So, I have to make sure to do these things. 1. Make sure the mailbox is 41 to 45 inches from the bottom of the box, to the surface of the road. 2. Make the it is 6 to 8 inches back from the curb and if there is no curb, contact the local postmaster to see how far it should be...
