Build Up on A Rim
Hey guys I need some feedback on this, this rim was curbed and was about halfway flattened around a quarter of this rim. The person asked if I could just do a build up in one pass. This rim is cast aluminum, just wanted some feedback and some tips! Thanks!

Re: TIG Newbie - Curling Edges?
The biggest thing that I had to learn when welding aluminum is that you have to be consistent and roll with it! Also position yourself to where you are comfortable and stead! After you get the puddle started on both pieces just keep dabbing to get a rhythm going! Also it helps if you practice feedin...

Re: 2016 AHP Alpha Tig
I have never owned or run an everlast, but it seems to me if you are replacing all the accessories anyway, the Powertig 200DX seems a better deal. It has hot start and arc force adjustment which will make it a better stick welder, comes with a nicer foot pedal, and a few other features that seem wo...

Re: 2016 AHP Alpha Tig
I owned an alphaTIG for a while and I am accused of being a hater. But honestly, my view is if you are going to replace all the accessories, you are probably better off buying an everlast unit instead. its going to cost you $150 for an SSC pedal, and around the same number for an upgraded torch. No...

Re: Miller Digital Infinity Helmet
I currently have the Miller Digital Infinity also, I love the viewing area and the color of the lense. The weight of it bothered me at first but I got used to it after a while. I love this helmet, I was thinking about purchasing the speedglas, but I heard about the X-mode and for the price I had to ...

2016 AHP Alpha Tig
I was looking to buy a welder for my house. I am a welding student at the moment but needed something affordable and reliable. The new AHP Alpha Tig is only 700 bucks. I was wondering if anyone has used this machine before and if it worth getting for at home use. I have read reviews on it and also m...

Re: Cast Aluminum Rim
Okay that sounds pretty reasonable! It was the automotive teachers rim that's why they wanted me to do it but I understand I probably won't mess with it anymore! Thank you guys for all of your feedback!

Re: Cast Aluminum Rim
Richard,
Thank you for the advice! I did not think about the heat drawing in contamination to the puddle! The Syncrowave I have has a max of 200 amps so I don't have anything else available to me that has more amperage. Thank you for your feedback!

Cast Aluminum Rim
I need some tips on welding a cast aluminum rim. I have a Miller Syncrowave 200 that I will be doing this repair with. The crack in the rim is not that big at all, I am running it at 200 amps on AC. The problem that I am having is that it is not starting a puddle very well, then when I have one my f...
