Hello, I am getting ready to order a Miller 250 DX Tig machine and there are (2) options for input voltages.
Model 951117 has (3) input voltages : 200v, 230v, 460v
Model 951118 has (3) input voltages : 230v, 460v, 575v
I am in California and the voltage in my shop is 240v - but I could move in the future - staying in the US.
Since they both have 230v and 460v, the difference is the 951117 will do 200v and the 951118 will do 575v. Which of these (2) voltages would be better to have?
Thanks!
General welding questions that dont fit in TIG, MIG, Stick, or Certification etc.
You would be hard pressed to find any place in the US that still has 575v. It was used a lot in the south for large motors in textile mills, but that's sort of gone the way of the goony bird. It was also used on farms for large motors. 208v 3 phase is very common in the US and 200v is sometimes the way it is listed on equipment because that's the utilization voltage rather than the distribution voltage. I'm not sure why a welder wouldn't just list 208 instead of 200, probably historical. So you'd be far better off with the 200v version.kwb wrote:Since they both have 230v and 460v, the difference is the 951117 will do 200v and the 951118 will do 575v.
