This has been covered elsewhere but didn't see it on this forum, sorry if this is old news. Kidde has recalled certain fire extinguishers with plastic discharge levers. I had one covered by the recall, filled out the online form, and got a replacement within a couple weeks. Sent the old one back, prepaid, in the box the new one arrived in. It's a real easy process.

i had one with the plastic discharge. i went to the site
filled out the info and 4 weeks later received a new one.
if you do this, when you receive the new one, carefully open
the box since they want you to return the old one in it.
