just bought a new infinity miller hood.
it comes with a nice size cheater lens holder.
bought millers cheater and its about half the
size of the holder.
does anyone know where to find a cheater that fills the holder?

yes that holder came with the hood but the holder is twice
as large as the miller cheater. i was hoping to find a
cheater that fills the holder.

I have the same hood, and use Miller cheaters. I searched IOC where I bought mine, but didn't see model specifically listed. I'll look here in a few minutes to see if I can get a model # off mine. What strength do you need (I think the model # has that embedded in it)?
just seems strange they make the holder so large and cheater hold the size?
why have to adjust it up or down when the right size would be perfect

I have the last year model Infintiy, not the new one. So the lens I have is 2”x4-1/4” model 212236 (1.0x). That’s the box for a spare lens, I use a 2.5x also. Should’ve listened to my Priest growing up about the hazards of playing pocket pool I reckon

Craig, I've only seen a cheater the one size, I also have the Infinity, older by about 2 years, and right now I think you're right, the holder is designed to allow you to adjust it higher or lower
I think once you get the headgear where you like it, then position the cheater you'll good to go

The adjustability up or down allows you to weld overhead through the mag lens without having to cram your head back like a giraffe. It took me a while to dial in the adjustments of my hood where I can quickly slide the mag lens into proper position to still benefit from it (as Lt Badd said).
but if the cheater lens filled the holder, adjustments would never be necessary.
no big deal but why not make one that fills the holder

A mag lens is more like a bi-focal. If it filled the entire focal plane, you might find it annoying, unless I misunderstand your issue (which is quite possible). Also, perhaps the newer Infinity has a different holder than mine has? My mag lens consumes about 50% of the front lens, positioned all the way up or down.motox wrote:but if the cheater lens filled the holder, adjustments would never be necessary.

I'm curious, are you using it as a bifocal or a full screen magnifier? If the latter, have you tried a pair of mag "glasses" and ditch the cheater?

when dad told me it would make you go blind I asked if I could keep it up until I needed glasses
