I have an older miller dial arc HF when I finish a weld and let off the footpedal it seems like the welder never stops supplying current if you put the torch in a holder and you look at it you can always see a light blue arc coming from the torch I believe this is not normal can anybody provide any suggestions on what I might look at To fix this problem any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I’m thinking it’s the footpedal but I’m not sure

Seems the HIGH FREQUENCY current is not shutting off. Some machines (maybe all?) have HF points that the spark jumps across. Yours may be stuck shut and the spark is always flowing through. They should be easy to replace.

On the old syncrowave I used we would clean and gap the points, no need to replace every time.
