Installing a used chiller come from South America somewhere. Have to adapt onto this pos flange. Four holes, two different diameters on different pcd's. Wtf! Who does that. Look where it comes from, that might explain it. Had to redrill my flanges with the mag drill.

2-1/2 150# standard vuctaulic flange.
The smaller holes are to keep pressure on the halves of the flange so they don’t slip out of the groove.

Thanks Josh. I figured that one out, but two different PCD's? that's certainly creative license. The keeper bolt holes are exactly the same diameter as the 5/8" black bolt shank. I was going to drill them out for M16 bolts but realised that if there is any clearance the flange might pop off the groove shoulder. So I didn't mess with that, just put the original rusty 5/8" black bolts back in with plenty of anti-seize.

pitch circle diameter = the diameter on which the flange holes are spaced. Techy term.

we say "bolt circle" or least where I worked. Ex. This flange has a 3.50" BC

Maybe it's an Aussie term, certainly standard drawing terminology. Maybe English origin.
What if they're dowel holes or gallery holes. Whatdaya call them then?

Vic fittings are about as good as pvc.

Bolt Circle is the phrase I'm familiar with too. We call it that even when drilling holes for dowels.
