Hi,

Just joined the forum, was looking for a place i could get some inpartial advice on some stuff.

I started a job a month ago with a company that after a while as I understand it eventually offers you a work truck or apparently about a $3/hour raise. The truck is completely paid for, insurance, maintenance, gas, everything. After this choice my understanding is they pretty much expect you to have a truck....anyways I've been trying to price things out in my head and I think this the truck would really be worth $4/hour?? (im canadian so if youre american subtract 25% for USD). Although I guess if you factor in resale its better to buy your own truck, plus im particular about maintaining vehicles, I wouldnt be too happy getting an abused piece of crap and stuck on someone elses cheap maintenance scheduale.

Anyways this is the first time ive come across this kind of thing so wanted to ask if theres any conventional wisdom about this? thanks,

Mike

I think in the US they figure it’s worth a little over 5k a year. Divided by approximately 2k hours a year.
I have more questions than answers
