Hey guys and girls. I decided it was time to step up and join the 21's century and retire my old 1970's technology.
Had a Miller Dialarc that was giving me nothing but headaches. Also had a Miller HF-20 (1000 amps capability)
and a Hobart Stickmate. Well, I offed all of them and made enough to buy an Everlast Powertig 200DX

It arrived yesterday and I set it up in the shop and gave it a whirl.
1st. I tried it in stick mode on both AC and DC and this little puppy runs sweet as southern iced tea.
2nd. DC tig on carbon. 2t, 4t and with the pedal. Nice tight arc and a crisp start.
3rd, DC pulse tig on some 18 ga. stainless. Used the 33 rule and wow!
4th. Ac tig on aluminum. Took a few minutes to find the sweet spot for freq. and balance but after that, Me Likey!

Everything seemed well built and worked nice.

What I didn't like?????
1. the plastic door over the controls wish it came off.
2. the tig torch. A little too bulky for my taste but that cam be remedied.

On a scale of 1-10? a solid 9.5 I don't see any noticeable difference in performance between this unit and
my buddy's Dynasty 200 DX. Except the price tag that is.

It's surely a winner!

Glad you like it! I really like the PowerPro 256S that I just got too!

The torch is definitely bulky. But the new style torch with the removable torch switch is pretty nice compared to the old blue handled one.

Yeah, them "European" style torches really bite the big one.
I'm gonna set up a WP 9 on a 20 ft. hose/cable so I have the
torch and a light weight "whip" to deal with only and go foot pedal.
Most of what I do is light gauge stuff. Motorcycle related stuff so a
stubby WP 9 setup should be the heat for most of what I'll be doing.
