Can someone explain what that is? I assume it is a process to weld armour type plating? The company makes parts for Hitachi heavy machinery Komatsu and other heavy construction equipment companies.

If its "ballistic welding" it sounds like the parts are shot at each other, with results similar to explosive welding.

If it means "welding for ballistic integrity, it most like refers to welding armour plate in such a way so its rated ballistic protection is not reduced.

I do this every day, We have to watch interpass temps, weld sizes and the weld metal its self is stainless steel, to make the weld deposit harder than normal steel wire. Pre heat is also required as the plate is hard and crack sensitive.

You could always call them up and ask them what a ballistic welder is?
