My LWS just called me and told me my TIG welder was in. I said my TIG welder is in my shop. He said...no..your NEW TIG welder! Seems mama bought me a Syncrowave 210 for Valentines day! Holy S$%^&! I am so excited! Does anybody here have one and can give me the scoop? My buddy who is a pro told me I will love it! I like my 200 but it is a transformer and he told me the arc on an inverter is much smoother. Im starting to feel bad about the dozen roses I got her :? :D :D :D :D . Maybe I'll drop a few hints on the Hypertherm 45 for Fathers Day!

If you guys need me, I'll be busy making my wife a new table. :)

I only have limited experience with an inverter, but I do like how smooth the arc seems compared to a transformer. My experience is using the inverter on Carbon steel only, so I can't speek to much else, but I like it.

There's some advise that has come some 25 years too late. She has a modest income, doesn't drink, and in general is not all that fun. Wow. Thanks. Now I'm feeling depressed. :(

I just learned that lesson 7 years ago when I met her. Luckily I was happily divorced from my second mistake and riding a partying like a fool when she was getting divorced from the lemon she was stuck with. My ship finally came in and this time I wasnt at the airport. :D

Inverters can produce square wave. With aluminum the arc, or at least the ionized gas which is very conductive doesn't fail at each half cycle. This smoothes the arc, and improves cathodic cleaning. If you have adjustable balance, you can control the balance between cleaning, and tungsten life, and penetration. Throw in frequency adjustment, you can narrow the arc, or widen it. Do wear earplugs, Inverters are noisy at higher frequencies!
