The funny thing is someone spent some money to have the metal fabbed up pretty decent and then welded it with....looks like two 9 volt batteries...do they teach how to weld with a torch stuck in your ass in welding school?
A guy I met owns a rental business on Long Island NY. He rented a skid steer to a demolition contractor. Two hours later they call back. "Bring us another skid steer. This one's got four flat tires." Their crane was fitted with a second hand, once condemned cable. It broke. There wasn't much left to fix.

Was that someones attempt at TIG brazing? Maybe just the light but it looks kinda gold. Like Jonathan from Superior , I have started to pay more attention to welds. If you want to see some shit welding, look at Club Car golf cart frames...ALLof them are garbage and about 90% of them are crater cracked. I think a monkey could do a better job.

Being a carpenter I always look at things a little differently than most others but sometimes I see things that I wonder if the person tried to screw up that bad or what. That keg fitting I posted a pic of was just unreal and the frickin "weldor" had the nerve to charge the poor guy...worse yet the idiot payed him.
I find it hard to believe that there are so many clueless people around but its getting easier to understand...Pride is gone in most people...most show up for a check and do only enough to keep their jobs. I have lost money on jobs by redoing something I don't think looks just right but I don't sign my name to it unless I am proud of it. I don't know what its like in Austrailia Mick but The USA is toast
I tend to write welds like that off to a guy and his buddy, working too late on the car after too much beer, not knowing what they're doing and beyond the point of caring, or just trying to kludge it together to just make it work _somehow_. Then figuring it works and it's ugly but no one will ever see it so they let it go.
