several videos ago Jody mentioned a diy dye penetrate test, (kerosene with food coloring and dr scholls foot spray) :)
anyone know if this work?

I'll confess, I have not tried it.

I intend to, for reasons too deep to discuss here, but suffice to say a more volatile carrier for the color would work to my advantage.

Have never used the foot spray as a welding crack test but have used it for many years to trace oil leaks (often caused by hairline engine case cracks) in motorcycles.

It works a treat. Very carefully clean part, run up engine...the moment there is a hint of a leak it shows up in the white powder.

Easy to see how it might work as a crack test spray.
