Wear your gloves when working around hot metal.
Bandages made from fresh 'Aloe Vera' are awesome.

In relation to the stabbing, I am slowly learning, after 14 years, to leave the ball on the end of the mig wire when cleaning the shroud and only cut it off right before welding. saves lots of painfull scratches, stabs. That or break the wire, by bending it, flush with the tip, but this is wasteful because of the amount of wire you need to feed out in order to grab it. (Bad habbit i have)
