I know Its better than the crappy welding table I built myself at home at dont even stand square anymore. Little tip-If the plans call for 1-1/2 inch angle, dont be cheap and buy 3/4. lol.

heh. I just made one as my first stick welding adventure a few weeks ago mostly out of an old grain separator. I took the 1.5" angles and welded them into t-beams and did half the table with 4" open slots so you can easily clamp with tong vice grips. other half is a pretty messed up piece of 14ga that was the bottom of the grain separator. It's nice to throw tools and stuff on, though. a few years of tig and mig must've served me well, though. only a few of the welds were complete shit

Similar to what I did, I got the plans for a 2x4 table out of this welding book. It called for like 1" pipe on half of the top for a cutting torch surface(so the slag would fall through) and the other half a 2x2x1/4 steel plate. Have you priced those lately? Im cheap and poor and broke. So I did the entire thing out of 1" pipe spaced like 8" apart.
Then it called for 1-1/2 angle around the top (what you weld the pipe too) and 1-1/2 legs. I went cheap and used 1-1/4 on top and 3/4" legs. Thing is a wobbly piece of shit.
One of these days ill cut out the 3/4" legs and put 1-1/2 legs on, just havnt got around to it.
I dont know what you call it, but I also built one of those claps you see in the welding booths at the schools or what not. Its got a pipe comin up, a pipe that slides over the top with a nut and all-thread handle and a pipe comin off of that, with another setup so you can adjust everything to from 1g or 1f to a 6g position. I used an old c clamp I had layin around and welded it to the last piece of pipe for the clamp.
All set up to practice, just need a real welder now :p my buzzbox is a POS. But I figured if I can get a 6g pipeweld done with a buzzbox havin a DC inverter will be a cakewalk.
