Turbotorch vs. Bernzomatic TS8000?

I want to buy a second MAPP/propane torch. I have a Turbotorch already. It hesitates to light, and sometimes it wants to stay on after I'm done with it, but otherwise it's fine.

I'm wondering if there is any reason to choose another Turbotorch over a Bernzomatic TS8000, which is cheaper.

I probably shouldn't point out that I'm planning to get the torch for searing burgers and steaks. My propane grill is too wimpy to give a good char, even after I modified it.

I want some serious heat.

Florida is pretty hot these days, wrap it in foil and put it out in the sun...

Sorry for that, I don't have any experience in this to advise further. :(

Funny, never thought of that use. I did last year barbecue my Vise. Got Er up to 500 popped the top and went after it with the 7018. Tapped with ball peen for tenderness dropped the lid rinse and repeat till I finally dumped it in a bucket of sand [emoji6].
It was a bit well done for eating purposes but it worked so well I did it again to weld a nice thick anvil section on the back. Bon appetite.

IF it's searing you're interested in, I have this friend who can make stuff happen. Look throughout the forum and find the story about Jed. Anyway, I used both types of handhelds while trying to defrost water valves on the back of my son in laws water truck. The turbo torch seemed to produce hotter fire and I "think" that happens because it acts like a venturi and draws more fuel/ O 2 thru the head of the torch. I couldn't tell you if it emptied the bottle any quicker for the heat provided. Enjoy, keep us posted and stay safe.
