What if I claimed welding was my religion and that this head cover and goggles are part of my religious headware and I wore them around town all the time?

Oliver, are you considering playing the part?

I'd advise against walking into a bank with that on...

Actually he may be on to something......
Churches don't pay taxes. He could found the church of Heliarc. Headgear must be worn at all times when practicing the religion.
If the IRS does an audit, just wear the headgear for the whole thing. Even give them a sermon on the importance of proper weld prep. They won't bother you again

The head of the church would be known as "The Arc of Purity"

New members could be called "Filler Rods".

To become a member, one must pass the 'Test of Porosity ', and thereafter always avoid contact with Hydrogen Embrittlement.

gee Rick, seems you've given this some thought, got some down time?

What about if a member wore a different manufacturer's hood?

Yes, was waiting on paint (sanding filler) to dry. Fixing a 6ft rip on the roof of a Class A motorhome.

As for the different brand hood.......
I guess that would be up to the OP. He is the one starting this religion.

Let’s be honest. Who hasn’t said a prayer to the weld gods after welding on a farm hitch?

And annually make the sacred pilgrimage to Florida to commune with the sun god during the winter months. Writeoff for the gas and expenses.

Seriously that rig looks like something A WW2 gun crew would wear in the turrets.

Good luck with that.

P.S. when the time comes, do not reach for your waist-band!

The hood and mask might work but if you strap a backpack welder to your shoulders and are walking around with a torch in one hand, could see possibilities of at least being questioned. [emoji106][emoji106]
