For several years, I've been complaining because I could not see what I was doing when I welded. Drove me crazy. I ended up using the lowest shade and lots of light.
The other day, it occurred to me that I might have a vitamin A problem. My gallbladder has acted up from time to time, and gallbladder issues can mean poor fat absorption. If you don't digest fat well, you can be deficient in vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are fat-soluble. This is what I read, anyway. I'm not a doctor, and I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in almost a year.
I started taking vitamin A supplements, along with lecithin to help emulsify them. That was a couple of weeks back.
Today and yesterday, I did some welding, and I could see exactly what I was doing. I had so much more control, I could not believe it. It's a whole new world.
I assume it's the vitamin A. I plan to keep taking 10,000 IU a day until something bad happens.
Thought I would run this by people. Might help someone else.
General welding questions that dont fit in TIG, MIG, Stick, or Certification etc.

Do be careful with the dosage of vit.A you take and keep track of it.
Because it's fat-soluble, unlike vit.C, you can 'overdose' on it and it becomes toxic to your body:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypervitaminosis_A
It was originally observed on arctic explorers that used a lot of polar bear meat which is very high in vit.A. Inuit and others in these regions didn't suffer from it as they are more accustomed to it and often had a much more varied diet from different animals they hunted so the total intake was lower.
Bye, Arno.

Are you trying to tell me I have to stop eating polar bears? What are you, a militant vegan or something?
If eating polar bears is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Today I went back to not being able to see again. It's so humid here, my glasses and helmet fog up as soon as I sit down to weld. Can you beat that? My eyes start working, and the weather sends me back to Braille welding.

hey chips...I've been reading up on the vitamin situation and Vitamin A is the one that comes up all the time for vision enhancement. BUT it also states in the sites that I visited you have to be careful not to overdose on Vitamin A if you're planning on getting pregnant.
I plan on getting some vitamin A tabs and also increasing my intake of carrots..Ever see a rabbit with glasses? with the exception of captain kangaroo show.
Hope ya smiled brother,,I got the same problems with my lookers and will try the A for a while till my patience lets loose.
Stay safe, don't over do it and patience....grasshopper.

SOOOOO, in my own little way ,, I told that I could see thru her clothes and she better get ready for a romp.
I plan on discussing the rest of this information just as soon as I can move out of the dog house and back into the house.

yeh, right, thanks Richard. I knew something was about to happen just as soon as I saw parking her broom, the smoke coming out of her ears and her hands started shaking.
and I'll deny that I wrote this too.
