Harbor freight 2 ton shop crane

Otherwise known as a cherry picker. Every now and then, we, as welders and fabricators need to move something really, really heavy and we've already gone through our lists of friends whose backs we have ruined by having them help us move really heavy things. This is where a cherry picker comes in handy. The 2 ton model sold at Harbor Freight is actually a pretty good unit for the money. It's normally about $200, I got mine on sale for $189. It goes together pretty easily and it picks up what it says it will.
That being said, for $200, it can't be perfect and it's not. The steel casters that come with it are complete P's.O.S. The crane will pick up 2 tons, but you won't be able to roll it anywhere. If you buy one, the first thing you should do is unbolt the casters that come with it and toss them in the scrap pile. Replace them with a nice $30+/ea steel wheel caster, and you'll have a fairly nice shop crane.
