I imagine that whatever they use as bonders/binders can technically degrade over time, but I've used wheels that were easily 10-20 years old and never had an issue, and have never heard of anyone else having an issue. For 6-8" wheels I would have no worries. If using much larger wheels and at high speeds, then maybe worry about a bit if the wheel is more than a decade old :lol:

Same here. If they degrade, I'm risking my life every time I fire the thing up.

Add to the list of things one would never have thought about.............. :o

From pg 23 ;

https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/131 ... on-pdf.pdf

" Vitrified bonded grinding wheels can be stored indefinitely.

Synthetic resin bonded grinding wheels should not be stored for more than 3 years because otherwise the strength of the wheel could drop due to embrittlement."

And another opinion.

Definitely data that needs to be hidden from the " 'elf an' safety " nazis, that is if you're unlucky enough to be somewhere that's infested with them ! ;)
