Bought these a few months back and just wanted to leave a little review for them. Up until last week I had put about 8hrs of ARC time using these items and as of last week I'm at 25hrs right now. So now for the goods.
Weld X Jacket:http://www.millerwelds.com/products/wel ... rel/weldx/
I must say that I love this Jacket. I bought this due to only having a sleeved bib type jacket previously and had a few instances where I melted my work shirt while grinding. Wearing the jacket is warm but it protects well and won't get as smelly as leather over time. Plus you can wash it, following the instructions on the tag not to lessen the protection level.
They run TRUE to size as well. I am a 2xl guy and bought a 3xl guy thinking it would be nice for doing overhead tests I had coming up. So since its loose, I've had many times where slag chips are going down my neck..SUCKS. There is a small gap as well between the neck velcro strap and top velcro flap of the main jacket, also allowing slag to enter. The protection is amazing for not being leather. I was welding overhead a month ago or so and had a piece of molten metal fall on my arm; not knowing this, it got hotter and hotter until I couldn't take it any more. Upon removing my jacket there was a huge, approx 3/4" in diameter blister on my arm. One month later, I'm still healing. I can not find anywhere on the jacket where it burned through! This has made me want to stick to this material and being in AZ and its summers we deal with, leather is not an option for me. So if you do get one, get your true shirt size.
On to the helmet:http://www.millerwelds.com/products/wel ... panel-9400
GREAT Helmet. I know its pricey but the external grind mode is awesome. Welding in good light, run your bead, press and hold the external grind mode button and your at shade 3. There are a ton of features with this helmet including 4 shade settings and easy to use controls for lighter/darker, delay off and sensitivity. Also the InfoTrack feature is nice as it has a clock, alarm, timer and arc time tracker. Overhead welding is no problem with this helmet either. It does have a little shelf for the lens but I have done a lot of overhead lately and have had no issues with it. Lenses are super easy to change as well. Although I didn't search too hard for the lenses at Praxair, they seem to be a Miller Item only.
