give me death. Today I was welding and I am not seeing crap. Can't see the edges or where the dern puddle is when I am coming up around the side of the cope. So I figure I will treat myself to some new clears and wash my lens. Where is my 2 x 4 clears at? So I start tearing the shop apart, thru the welding drawer and nada. So I look in my old junk box where all my weird tools and such are and I find a box of anchor brand 1/8" 1% and this. . .

A frig'n virgin glass 10 shade! I was as happy as a teenager with his first piece of. . . .cake. I put this in the hood and it's like high def x 10 and I can see every single part of the arc and the weld and that god awful amber color thru the plastic lens is OUT of my life! The plastic lens looks green when you hold it up to a light but translates to amber when the torch is fired up. This one looks green as well, but the color is more to that of a xenon bulb.

No more crummy edges, no more cold starts, and most of all. . .no more. . . 'puhfff', and the welds for the rest of the day went perfectly. I tried the plastic wonder lens with the new clears and it still sucked. It may just be me and I can accept that because I don't care. I can see my welds again.

I got a shade 10 green glass in my Jackson. Love it for aluminum.

I always hated those plastic "gold" lenses.

They remind me of those "amber vision" sunglasses. Where at first you notice a certain general clarity but there is something distinctly uncomfortable or annoying about it when trying to focus. Then you put on a pair of Ray-bans, whether it be green or black and although it may not be exciting, the tint is functional without any special effects.
