ADF Modification

I've seen a couple people online now that have modified their original ADF helmet and put a fixed shade in its place. I've seen both the Speedglas and Miller Elite helmets with these done. However, I can't figure out how to go about doing it. From what I can tell, the Elite would be too big to fit a regular 4"x5" gold lens into without some serious modification. Ultimately, I'd like to have the Miller Not Forgotten (POW/MIA) helmet with a gold lens. 8-) Any help appreciated!

Hey,

A little research just told me that you can buy a passive helmet in the shape of a miller D E. That can be upgraded to a Adf later if desired. So it stands to reason that you can eaily swap the other way, and there must be a gold lens out there some where. Colin fromToxicfab.com made his own gold lens for a Speedglas 9100 but thats a different story.

I was planning on buying a DE shell and putting a fixed shade in it. The cover lenses are like 5"x6", so I'm not sure how big the opening is for the actual lens, and if a 4"x"5 goldy will fit in it. And Collin's was the Speedglas I was referring to, actually. :)

This is the one you can buy, and add an adf later if you like. :-)

Not a fan of the design. I know, who cares. But the POWMIA helmet really speaks to me.
I want this helmet (no lens) with a gold lens in it. (http://www.weldfabulous.com/p-101145-mi ... elite.aspx) Wondering how that could work..

www.savephace.com will put any design you can imagine on any helmet you want. They have Std. lenses, and ADs, with peripheral vision options.

They've got some badass looking helmets! But, I think getting it painted would make this venture much more expensive than I was thinking. Part of the reason I don't wanna just get the ADF helmet and shell out $300 right now

That link was merely for demonstration perposes. Your MIA/POW would probably is availible as a passive.

Far as I've seen (and I've researched pretty well), they only make those two styles (black/flames) in fixed shade. So I've been trying to figure out how to fit a gold lens in one of the ADF helmets
